Check out a brand new cause called Creating Crash-free Communities, at http://apps.facebook.com/causes/325035 . It is unique as it asks you to first take up your own cause to remain crash-free, by learning from the lessons of both your near misses and the near misses of others.

Jennifer, Great story, hope you are doing well. I am a 28 year veteran Sheriff's Deputy in Wisconsin. I have specialized in Traffic Crash Reconstruction as part of my duties for 24 years. Through that assignment I have seen incredible tragedy, many times involving young drivers who, through lack of experience, overconfidence in their ability and sense of youthful invincibility have died or been severely injured, and/or caused the death or severe injury to others. One crash I investigated involved three 18 year olds who died when the driver of the vehicle they were in lost control, went off the road and struck a large tree causing the car to catch fire. One of the boys was friends with my (then 17 year old) daughter. He had been a visitor to our home several times. I have long been an advocate of promoting teen driving safety.
Have you checked the Federal Highway Administration or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for possible funding sources? Another source may be the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Feel free to contact me if I can help.

Hi! My name is Jennifer Stehlar and I reside in South Buffalo. I am a multiple near-fatal car crash survivor who has fought against every "never" that my doctors said my resulting brain injuries had caused. In then end I competed for & became Mrs. New York ab. I did this to have a larger voice, spotlight and platform on the very topic that nearly ended my life 2x's within 11 months. I now travel NYS giving assemblies on Traffic Safety and I always share my own personal story of triumph over this needless tragedy. On that very day a part of me died BUT it was replaced with a passion for traffic safety. I became officially partnered with the NYS Police and DeLacy Ford in the educational efforts of a safe driving awareness campaign(I am not paid by either of them..,just partnered with). I am also in the process of starting my very own Non-Profit designed just to spread education of traffic safety.
In the end, I am looking for materials, help and guidance. I have not received a dime of donations this year. Not one. It has been my husband and I taking our "date night" money and placing it into traffic safety. When asking businesses for donations I was told that they would not get anything out of it & it was an investment that would not show any return. MY QUESTION: isn't saving a life the greatest investment you can make in a lifetime???????
In the end, I was told by 4 students that I saved their lives! They were in a crash and wore their seat belts. EMT said they would be dead without the seat belts. The students said they never wore their SB b/4 the time that I spoke to them and showed them my commercial that the GTSC honored my father and I with. That was incredible to hear from them!! They said it was "cool" to wear their seat belt b/c Mrs. NY did!
My journey has ended ONLY due to the lack of funding. NONE has been received! I have traveled this state saving lives, it is my personal mission, one that encompasses our entire society and a journey that that I know God has put me on. I love every second of it but am heart broken that it has ended due to the lack of donations. Do you have any ideas or anything that AAA can assist me with???
From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate anything!
