Low Power FM – or LPFM -- stations are community-based, nonprofit radio stations that broadcast at the local level, to neighborhoods and small towns throughout the country.
Run by non-profits like colleges, churches, schools, labor unions and other community groups, LPFM stations provide local coverage, information and perspectives that are not available anywhere else. These non-commercial stations are uniquely positioned to meet local needs by:
* Giving a voice to local groups and people who otherwise lack access to the media.
* Offering a platform for discussing local issues.
* Providing news, information and viewpoints ignored by traditional media.
* Offering a training ground for students and others looking for a start in the radio business.
* Strengthening neighborhood and community identity.
* Issuing vital safety information during local emergencies.
Updated: The cause has raised $50.
So I asked your mom, and she said that you couldn't check my page out and become a fan. As we all know we always do what our parents tell us too. So what are you waiting for, Go check it out, now while she's out of the room.
Definitely not suitable for all Audiences. Parental Discretion advised.
Page contains BAD BAD words. That's right I swear a lot.

Hi James, Thanks for writing with your concerns. The media has always been shaped by policies, since the founding of our country. It was policy that helped establish our free press in America. The question now is whether the policies in place in DC serve big media corporations to serve the public. We seek to generate policies that are in the public interest, and give people the access to information/media they need to participate fully in our communities and our democracy.
Donations to this cause benefit FREE PRESS, which self-describes as "Free Press seeks to generate policies...". Policies MEANS laws and the last thing a "FREE PRESS" needs is to invite the government into the editing room of any press of the People. FREE PRESS means free of government involvement. I'm out of this group.

I live in Canada so i am unable to write to congress or my senator. How am i able to be more assistance to the cause? I feel this affects me because most of our television programing in Canada comes from the States, and even though i myself do not own a television i don't want a monopoly on information for the people.

As you may know, the FCC is attempting to change media ownership rules so that a handful of large companies get even bigger. The deadline to submit comments is Dec. 11, one week before the vote.
