I think Witness.org is an amazing way to put technology in the hands of the otherwise unheard voices. One of the most powerful images I can recall (back 1989) was the 'tank man' of Tiananmen Square. The footage of this remains etched in my memory for life. Without organizations like Witness.org, there would be very few ways to record such impactful imagery.
A little over 2 years ago I was attacked by 3 Montreal police officers, knocked out electrically and then left for dead ,dumped in a dark alley in the rain. I'm in municipal court this Friday on trumped up charges, the cops won't leave me in peace. I'm handicapped with chronic pain aggravated by the attack and fear what they'll do to me next. I could use any support I can get, anybody know a lawyer willing to help out for free, I've been screwed around by the legal aid system and fear the worst , given what's happened to peoples rights in Montreal. There should definitely be an independent legal body to deal with police abuse, 'cause they get away with murder and police policing themselves certainly doesn't work !
