About
Rick Bartlett should serve the maximum sentence for this crime!
Rick Bartlett, Pastor for Bastrop Christian Church and Police Chaplain, was arrested for animal cruelty in relation to the death of our 12 year old cat, Moody. Our sweet cat was trapped by Rick Bartlett our neighbor who lives three houses down the street. He was held without food or water for 3 days before his death. Bartlett claims Moody was a feral cat, even though he was neutered and had a collar with ID tags. He took Moody to animal Control after having him for days, but they told him Moody needed to be returned home because he was someones pet. They offered to take Moody back home, but Bartlett said he wanted to do it himself. Hours later we received a phone call from a local veterinary clinic, claiming Moody had been thrown from the downtown bridge, a 50ft drop, and was struggling to survive. We told them to do whatever it took to save him, we didn't care about cost. However, Moody died just a few hours later. Rick Bartlett has changed his story a couple of times, but finally settled on one. He says after he left animal control, he ran errands in town. Then, decided he would let Moody out of the trap, loose in the open bed of his truck, and he began to drive. He said he just hoped Moody would jump out at some point while he was driving. Next thing we hear, Moody is unable to move, at the bottom of the bridge, clinging to life. We do not believe Rick Bartlett ever had any intentions of getting our beloved Moody back home to us. We believe that Rick Bartlett knowingly put Moody in a situation that would result in harm being caused and even death. He should serve the maximum sentence for this crime, no less!
