On December 11th Alpha Omicron Pi, Sigma Chi, and Pi Kappa Alpha will be hosting a 5k called "Jogging for John Holiday Run." This past summer, a current sister of AOII lost her father after a long and courageous fight with lung cancer. He was a Vietnam veteran and a proud Sigma Chi at Roanoke College. I had the pleasure of knowing him for only three years, but was able to experience what an upstanding and gracious man he always was. He was not only an educator by career, but also by lifestyle living by the motto "set your standards high." We hold this event close to our hearts because we want his legacy to be carried on with the help of students at the University of Maryland, which he loved so dearly while sharing special memories with his daughter and family. The sisters of AOII and brothers of Sigma Chi and PIKE invite you all to join us to honor John with a jog around the university beginning at 10am on December 11th. As he wished, all of the proceeds will go directly to benefit Children's Health Services at Ocean Medical Center where he was treated and received hospice care.
