Those of us who know Linda, also know that family means the world to her. So, it is with great sadness that we learn of her nephew’s recent hospitalization. Darrien Nguyen was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (AT/RT), a rare form of aggressive brain cancer that predominately affects infants and young children under 3. Treatment involves surgical removal of the brain tumor followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy. However, even with treatment, the long term outcome is still very poor. The survival rate for children after treatment is less than 10%.
