About

Protect the Amazon Rainforest; raise awareness of environmental and social damage from industrial development; support solutions for sustainable development; promote empowerment of Indigenous Peoples.

The Arkana Alliance, a fiscally sponsored project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, is working rapidly with Indigenous federations and leaders in the Peruvian Amazon. We are uncovering a vastness of oil contamination and tragedy that we are helping to counter through empowering the federation leaders and communities under Peruvian law. Legally acknowledging the leaders and co-hosting a summit of 12 federation leaders in early July are the first steps in what is an emergent, new Indigenous movement that will help set the stage for protecting not only the Peruvian Amazon, but the entire system. This is not just a local issue - it's a human issue and it's global. And it's all beginning right now in the heart of the Amazon.

1. Advocate for Indigenous Peoples’ rights and promote social and environmental justice by partnering with legal support

2. Highlight threats to Amazon posed by industrial developments, esp. oil and gas, mining, hydroelectric projects and deforestation.

3. Implement community-based, sustainable development projects for appropriate alternatives to destructive industrial development under current paradigm.

4. Support intercultural education in communities throughout the Peruvian Amazon and preserve Indigenous traditions that conserve the rainforest
