Urgent Action Fund for Women's Human Rights, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
Hey UAFers! Now that UAF is over the 500 mark, if each of us recruited just one more person, we'd be over a thousand, if we each recruited three people - there would be THOUSANDS of people on Facebook supporting UAF, spreading the word to women's rights activists around the world so that when the time comes for a strategic intervention, they know who to contact for a Rapid Response Grant.
Please write a status update on your personal profile, make UAF your featured cause, and/or use the Invite feature within Causes to spread the word!
We can do it!

Urgent Action Fund for Women's Human Rights is hosting an event with Mu Sochua, Cambodian Parliamentarian and Human Rights Activist, in Boulder, CO on July 2, 2009. This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the most prominent women human rights defenders in Cambodia as she discusses the current political context and why she is now being persecuted by the government. See the link attached to view the invitation. Please RSVP.

What a great cause! It is time for global consciousness to transform how it views women...as well as how we women view our selves and our place in the world.

Hi everyone! I am so excited to share with you that we just made our 700th grant! During my six years of work at the Fund, it never ceases to amaze me how incredible the work of our grantees can be.
Since 1997, UAF has supported women activists in 87 countries for a total of more than $3 Million. Our 700th grant was provided to Colectivo Feminista Mujeres Universitarias (COFEMUN) in Honduras. COFEMUN is working to prevent the proposed ban on Emergency Contraception that was just passed in the Congress by conservative factions from becoming law. COFEMUN is organizing the citizens of Honduras to demonstrate to President Zelaya, who now has the right to either approve or veto the ban, that public sentiment is NOT behind this erosion of rights.
