This cause has been set up because a member of our 22q/DiGeorge community lost their home in the Alabama tornado destruction last month.
Pitcher, David Robertson returned to the Yankees last week after a one-day visit to his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which was devastated by a recent tornado, and was clearly affected by what he saw…
"I wish I could go down there and use my hands and help people to rebuild, but I’m not able to,'' he said. "So I’m going to do everything I can to raise money to get supplies and others things to the people down there.'' –David Roberston
They met one family in particular whose 8 year old son Anthony was diagnosed with DiGeorge. Their house had been reduced to rubble and both cars destroyed by the tornado. Young Anthony’s family explained that “he is quite withdrawn due to his condition and depends heavily on school with friends and a familiar set of teachers/nurses”, but their routine has been severely disrupted. “FEMA helped a little but that money was used to by a car so Anthony’s father could continue working”. Anthony's mom was forced to stay home to take care of him, which put them behind along with all of the medical bills.
Because of the hard work and dedication of YOU… our 22q/DiGeorge/VCFS family & friends and the awareness that we've collectively raised the Robertson’s were able to find our organization and ask us to join their efforts to help this family (a member of our community) in their time of need.
I ask you to imagine your house completely destroyed in the blink of an eye, your cars in twisted heaps, and your most cherished items scattered to the wind. Every medical record, business card, or educational assessment gone! Now also consider that you must still handle all of the issues this diagnosis bears while trying to rebuild your life! Your house is gone... but your childs diagnosis is not.

It is times like these that require a bit of help from each of us. Times like these show the rest of the world how big we really are, and how we can move mountains when we put our minds to it.
Two weeks ago nearly ten thousand of us came together to drive awareness of 22q/VCFS/DiGeorge. If each of us donated five dollars today we could raise $50,000 in no time flat! Support like that is a great example of who we are.
The Dempster Family Foundations asks each of our friends to donate what you can to help. Join us in thanking David and Erin Robertson for starting a charitable fund, for finding this family and for allowing each of us to play a role in helping them rebuild this family’s life.
