Workshop on Aboriginal Community, Justice, and Mental Health

Bqb

Racism is a Mental Health Illness; Native Peoples experience more stress than others because of Colonization and after Residential School. Native Peoples experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Persistent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from multi-generational discrimination. Let us work together and Bridge the Gap. Let us become aware, communicate, educate ourselves on socio-economic conditions of Aboriginal communities, housing, health care and services. We can stop the problem of suicides together in Aboriginal communities. Care about the Aboriginal women, men and youth and the high suicide rates in North America. Care about the unemployment rate on reserves, housing shortages, education dilemma, health care and service problem and let us bridge that gap. Mental health is everyone's concern, education and communication is important. 93% of the Aboriginal Population has some type of Mental Health problem, let us work on that together in North America and become aware of the issue and open-up communication between cultures. Let us align our problems and work on solutions for culturally appropraite Health Care and Services. Huy' Ch' Q'u Sharon Lewis
