المتظاهرين في خطر التعرض للتعذيب في السودان

في 30 يناير، تجمع حوالي2000 شخص في الخرطوم للمشاركة في مظاهرة سلمية. تم اعتقال أكثر من 70 شخصا، مع 20 لا يزالون محتجزين رهن الاعتقال وهم معرضون لخطر التعذيب أو غيره من ضروب سوء المعاملة. بينهم عدد كبير من الناس في الشوارع قبل أن يصلوا إلى

المظاهرات. كانت المخابرات الوطنية وخدمات الأمن وشرطة مكافحة الشغب استخدمت الهراوات والغاز المسيل للدموع لتفريق المظاهرات وأصيب العديد من المعتقلين. وتشير التقارير إلى أن أحد المتظاهرين الطالب، محمد عبد الرحمن توفي في المستشفى يوم 31 يناير، بعد تعرضه للاصابة عند قيام الشرطة بتفريق المتظاهرين

أحمد محمود، لويس ويراك أويل، صلاح و يوسف مبارك المهدي، محمود كمال أحمد إبراهيم هم من بين أولئك الذين لا يزالون محتجزين من قبل جهاز الأمن الوطني. ويقول شهود عيان أن لويس أويل ويراك، وهو من جنوب السودان، وتعرض للتعذيب و هو في حالة جسدية سيئة للغاية.

و لم توجه أي تهم ضدهم حتى الآن. وكان العديد من المعتقلين قد تعرضوا للتعذيب وغيره من ضروب سوء المعاملة في الاحتجاز. عدد غير معروف من الناس ما زالوا محتجزين في عهدة جهاز الأمن الوطني

دعوة السلطات إلى الكشف عن هوية ومكان وجود المعتقلين ومنحهم حق الوصول الفوري إلى عائلاتهم والمحامين وإلى أي علاج طبي قد يحتاجون إليه ؛
دعوة السلطات إلى التحقيق فورا وبفعالية في جميع مزاعم التعذيب وغيره من الانتهاكات الخطيرة لحقوق الإنسان؛
دعوة السلطات إلى الإفراج عن جميع المعتقلين أو توجيه الاتهام لهم بجرائم جنائية معترف بها ؛

PROTESTERS AT RISK OF TORTURE IN SUDAN

On 30 January, around 2,000 people gathered in Khartoum for a peaceful demonstration. More than 70 people were arrested, with 20 still held

in detention, including a large number of people in the streets before they reached the demonstrations. The National Intelligence and

Security Service (NISS) and riot police reportedly used batons and tear gas to break up the demonstrations. Many of those arrested were

injured. Reports suggest that a student demonstrator, Mohamed Abdelrahman died in hospital on 31 January, after being injured as the police

dispersed the demonstrators.

Ahmad Mahmoud, Louis Awil Weriak, Yousif and Salah Mubarak Al Mahdi, Mahmoud Kamal Ibrahim Ahmed are amongst those reportedly still

detained by the NISS. Witnesses say that Louis Awil Weriak, a southern Sudanese, was tortured and is in a very poor physical condition.

None of the detainees have had any charges made against them up to date. Many of the detainees were reportedly tortured and otherwise ill-

treated in NISS detention. An unknown number of people are still being held in NISS custody.

-Calling on the authorities to reveal the identities and whereabouts of those detained and grant them immediate access to their families,

lawyers and to any medical treatment they might require;
-Calling on the authorities to promptly and effectively investigate all allegations of torture and other serious human rights violations;
-Calling on the authorities to release all those detained or charge them with recognizably criminal offences;
