AmeriFace and its many programs, including cleftAdvocate and the Pathfinder Outreach Network, supports individuals whose facial differences are present at birth, as well as those who have acquired facial differences as a result of illness, disease or trauma, such as stroke, cancer, accident and burns.

1. Cleft lip/palate is the leading birth defect in the USA according to the CDC (2006); yet most people think it's an issue only in developing countries.

2. Persons with facial differences, including cleft lip and palate, are equal to those without facial differences in every way.

3. Insurance companies should never stand in the way of necessary medical treatment! Cleft/craniofacial care is medically necessary, not cosmetic!
