As he prepares his new administration, Obama has the opportunity to appoint a "Drug Czar" who will shift drug policy toward a public health model and away from a criminal model. Please sign this petition and let our new president know that a change in drug policy is needed!

--NOW RECRUITING--
The 2009 Cannabis Dispensary Survey is now underway. There are 58 counties in California and, in the interest of efficiency, we would like to have one volunteer per county. These phone calls will take place Monday-Friday during California business hours. Please message me as soon as possible to get involved. The faster we can get this data, the faster we can present it to those deciding AB 390 in the California Assembly and HR 2943 in the US House of Representatives.
Thank you, and happy hunting!

This is a test from your emergency cannabis broadcasting system. This is only a test. Interested in helping the fight to legalize cannabis? An important statistical comparison is about to go underway and we might need your help!
The details are as follows:
The California State Assembly, as you all probably know, is debating the legalization of marijuana under state law. What is missing from the debate is good statistical information on the effects of legally available medicinal marijuana on the criminal justice system. Helping out will probably entail a few hours of calling city and county governments for the numbers of dispensaries on a yearly basis since 1996. There is no one stop shop for this information at this point.
Please message me if you are interested in getting involved! More to come....

it's cruel and unusual punishment to incarcerate some one for drug use!
alcohol is a drug and it causes more harm to the body than any other drug though it's legal. what happened to the pursuit of happiness?
Here's an idea.
Don't do illegal drugs.
Suddenly your problem is solved you faggots
yup. its bad and is only going to get wose. My friend got busted for sellin a gram. they then went and search his entire house found nothing. they made him tell them where it was, the 10g's of marijuana. They confiscated all of it and pressed charges because he wouldnt rat out the person he got it from. (Rhode Island)
I just got busted for possession of less than 20g in Tampa, Florida. The time for a reform of our harsh, draconian laws. Legalize it!
what have you done, my home, illinois? harsh penalties for drug related crimes, yet massive cuts* to state funding of rehabilitation centers and halfway houses? this is a strange place
*72% at the SHARE program (where i was) in Hoffman Estates, IL, down from 1.6 million a year to around 450,000. they're closing by the end of the year
this isn't right

incidents where people are hospitalized after taking drugs like ecstasy or LSD would be much rarer if those drugs were legalized. In the 60s, you had a small number of highly intelligent chemists who were synthesizing lsd, and giving it out at woodstock, grateful dead concerts, etc, for just a few dollars a pop or even free. Then the DEA scheduled it, and the production of lsd went from very intelligent chemists to organized crime, following a recipe in a lab, mass producing the substance and cutting it to increase profits. You see the exact same story with ecstasy: cheap, pure, clean, legal ecstasy was prevalent, you could get it for very cheap or free at raves, in the early 80s when it was popularized. Then BAM it got scheduled, now ecstasy pills have god knows what in them. As the group states, the war on drugs has definitely failed.
Just some things I learned from some very interesting documentaries (on e and lsd) , i'll try to dig up the link if someone wants to see them
