City of Hope is a research and treatment center devoted to battling cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other serious diseases. We seek to turn research ideas into new treatments to bring hope to millions.
City of Hope is in the business of hope. We’ve been dedicated to it for nearly 100 years. Hope is what defines humanity, the dogged determination to survive and win out over afflictions. But when people face such formidable opponents as cancer, HIV/AIDS and diabetes, hope can be a difficult thing to hold on to. That’s where we come in.
THERE IS NO PROFIT IN CURING THE BODY IF, IN THE PROCESS, WE DESTROY THE SOUL. — Samuel Golter, City of Hope executive director from 1926–1953
Our work is driven by compassion — for patients, survivors and all those who will one day benefit from our research. We deliver top-quality, compassionate care to the patients and families who seek our help. And that same spirit of compassion drives our researchers to pursue new breakthroughs and bring the most promising treatments to the patients who need them most.
INNOVATION DISTINGUISHES BETWEEN A LEADER AND A FOLLOWER. — Steve Jobs
Our central focus is transforming basic scientific discoveries into new, better treatments for patients as quickly as possible. We call it “science saving lives.”
Our innovative research has led to medical breakthroughs that save lives worldwide, including:
• Four of today’s most widely used cancer drugs — Herceptin, Rituxan, Avastin and Erbitux.
• Synthetic human insulin to benefit millions of people living with diabetes.
• A pioneering bone marrow transplantation program that is one of the largest, most successful programs of its kind.
Join us and help deliver hope. You can make a difference for those battling life-threatening diseases, and those who will avoid them thanks to research we’re doing today.
WHEN THE WORLD SAYS, GIVE UP, HOPE WHISPERS, TRY IT ONE MORE TIME. — Anon
