Bob, thanks for sharing your story with me. My mom was unable to talk for days leading up to her death. You're correct...I wouldn't have been any place else.
Michelle My wife Adrianne died in my arms, even though we are so sad to loose a loved you, you have blessed just as I was to have them in our arms, Adrianne was trying to talk to me right to the very end, she was asking for her mother and whe she came into the roon she died in my arms
My mom (age 60) passed away on Christmas Day in my arms from this terrible form of cancer. It has been so hard on my family. I'm an only child and I miss my mom so much. In July 2008 they had to remove a 10lb. tumor along with her left kidney and she received radiation for a while and was doing good. Approx. 2 months ago we found out the tumors had come back, 1 attached to the sarcoid (?) muscle that runs down the back of the leg and another 1 in the same place the left kidney used to be and neither were operable. After 3 chemo treatments and being put in the hospital on Thanksgiving Day it was determined she couldn't handle the treatments and another scan revealed through previous surgeries the blood supply to those sites had been cut off so the chemo wasn't reaching the tumors and they were growing rapidly. she was given no more than 2 months to live. She died a week later at 11:45pm with me curled up next to her in her nursing home bed with my arm wrapped around her. my aunt (her only sister) sitting in a chair by her bedside and her mother (whose health isn't good) sitting in a recliner at the foot of the bed. She never knew she was going to die, she just thought she was going to a nursing home long enough to gain strength back in her legs. She went down hill very fast and after moving her to the nursing home she was no longer alert. We had to keep her drugged to help with the pain and even when they moved her she would cry out. My mom never went to Church for any length of time but the day she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance I led her in the sinner's prayer. I was going to wait until she was situated in her hospital room and out of ER but i felt led to do it then and I'm glad I did because she ended up being put in ICU so visitation was limited. i have so many what if's that I'm driving myself crazy. I have to take 3 different meds to cope with the loss. I sleep with a shirt she used to wear a lot. Thanks for taking the time to read.
Hi Heather,
I'm sorry to learn that you have to deal with rhabdomyosarcoma. here is an excellent review article on rabdomyosaecoma written by Dr. Wexler on our website. You can access it at http://bit.ly/34fDIw. You might find the following articles useful:
1. A Guide to the Sarcoma Universe for Those who Have Just Arrived (and the friends & family that support those with cancer) http://is.gd/sDrE

There are also over 50 1-minute videos of doctors and nurses talking about a wide range of important issues related to sarcoma that are on our website. You can view them at http://is.gd/10EZQ
Best,
Bruce
also, is there anyone else who has, or has had experience with Rhabdomyosarcoma? This is the first issue of cancer that our family has dealt with and I dont know much about it. Please let me know if you have any information about it. Thanks
I was just wanting to write you to ask you to remember my sister in your prayers. She has just been diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive type of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma...Its especially rare because its usually found in children, and she is 22 years old. She is going to have to have surgery over it which will make it twice that she has had the cancer removed. She is going to need Chemo and radiation therapy too from what we know so far. I was wanting to try to get everyone who is praying for her to write her a little note, or a card saying we are thinking of you or something and to mail it to me, so I can give it to her as a means of encouragement as she goes along. If it is something you would like to do, message me and I can give you my address. It would be greatly appreciated... thanks again, and God bless
Heather Todd
Tina, Causes does not allow me to take the photo, video and link options off, so when people put them on, I am forced to delete them. Causes made this change and is not allowing administrators to control our own content - so we have to do it manually by deleting things. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but it is important that we are clear in our communications. Thanks for understanding.
Mary, I don't think people realized that we can post links or video. In the SHARE YOUR STORY that is featured here, it's an option to post photographs, videos, and links. You might want to take those options off.
Thank you for visiting the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. Feel free to post a message on our wall, but we ask that you not post links or media to our Cause Page. Thank you!
