The Pakistani monsoon season has resulted in devastating flooding within the northwest areas of the country. The death toll is rising everyday, and over two and a half million people have been displaced. Thousands of homes remain submerged underwater, access roads and bridges have been swept away, making relief efforts extremely challenging.
Once again IMANA has launched an emergency campaign to aid those in this dire time of need. Twenty thousand dollars has already been wired to our partner non-governmental aid agencies to assist in food distribution, establishment of medical camps, water purification systems, and to provide tents for shelter. We need your support to continue these efforts.
Unfortunately the torrential rains are not showing any signs of subsiding anytime soon. The tragedy is going to become increasingly worse as the flood waters begin to surge in the more populated areas of Sindh and Punjab in the next 2-3 days.
