Sean Jeans-Gail
Communications Director
NARP

I am a 64 year old Amtrak conductor living in Washington, DC ("Chocolate City") suffering from "taxation without representation" because I have no one in Congress to write to express my views on transportation or any other issue. I've got the "Amtrak Blues" because politicians fron Alabama, Wyoming, Alaska determine the quality of life in the nation's Captial where I am taxed dearly. I pay city and Federal taxes, but I have no voice or voting rights...and that hurts me deeply. I am convinced that disenfranchisement will eventually be eliminated as more highly skilled and educated whites move into this rapidly gentrifying city...but in my life time?

I want to communicate with others with a passion for trains... and those want to promote walking, bicycling, skating, skateboarding and public transportation as alternatives to environmental destruction, pollution, and death (on and off the battlefield).

Phoenix Rising!

One of my biggest regrets is that I never got the chance to see the awesome original Pennsylvania Station. Whenever I look at classic old photos of North America's premier train station I feel so sad that this beautiful architectural masterpiece was destroyed by greedy developers and indifferent government.

Even worse, I am 64 years old and fear I will not live to see a sorely needed new Penn Station...or high speed rail in the United States. I am so tired of talk, talk...and more talk!

I can not believe that Amtrak has actually chosen to stay in Penn Hole and NOT to be a part of efforts by Moynihan and Schuman to resurrect a major transporation hub in the heart of New York City.
