To ensure the survival of sea turtles through research, education, training, advocacy and the protection of the natural habitats upon which they depend.
Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) conducts research on key sea turtle nesting beaches, including monitoring nesting behavior and using satellite to track turtle migrations.
STC also focuses on teaching indigenous communities in our major program areas about sustainable methods of using sea turtle conservation to create an ecotourism-based economy.
Sea Turtle Conservancy's education initiatives also aim to teach locals and tourists about the threats facing sea turtles and the opportunities for conservation.
In the United States, STC is active in advocacy to protect nesting beaches by supporting positive regulations to safeguard sea turtles in their costal and ocean habitats.
Educationally, STC conducts a satellite-tacking education program to help teachers worldwide to incorporate sea turtle conservation into their science and environmental curriculums, allowing students to track the migratory movements of these turtles. Internationally, Sea Turtle Conservancy focuses on encouraging good fishing practices that reduce sea turtle mortality.
