Find 10,000 people in 2010 in the U.S. to get home solar.
The Gulf oil spill and the coal mining accident are the most recent reminders of the risks posed by fossil fuels. These disasters have hurt the environment and local economies, and taken human lives. Now more than ever is the time to embrace renewable energy as a cleaner and safer option to coal and oil.
Currently, there are almost 73,000 solar installations in the U.S. Many Americans don’t yet realize that the choice to go solar is available today. We’re hoping to spread the Challenge’s message high and wide to raise awareness about opportunities to go solar.
We're looking for 10,000 homeowners across the nation who believe in the choice to power their homes with clean, solar energy in 2010. Please spread the word by joining the cause and inviting your friends!
Solar companies across the nation are joining together to support the cause for clean, solar energy. Co-sponsors of the 10,000 Solar Roofs Challenge include:

1. The true cost of oil and coal are not reflected in the price that we pay to consume them.
2. The recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has shown us that these costs are escalating as we work harder to extract the earth's natural resources.
3. We have a choice. Home solar can reduce up to half of the pollution every year from a home.
