I lost everything while I was living in Ocean Springs MS. How do I know exactly where the money will go and how it will be spent. If only a little has been raised so far, what is the organization doing? I hate to be a skeptic, but so much mismanagement happened and is still happening.

Just got back from my second trip down to Mississippi and Louisiana to help build houses for the victims of the hurricane and I'm happy to report that a lot of progress has been made since I was last there. There appear to be more people and houses thanks to relief workers and I'm always glad to be a part of that. If anyone has any organizations that are helping to rebuild other than Habitat, Americorps, Katrina Relief, Katrina Cottage etc etc please post them.

I was recently in NoLa for the National League of Cities conference as a youth delegate, and we spent some time working on the Musician's Village. It was an incredibly amazing experience, and I highly recommend that if any of you are going down there, spend a day or two working with Habitat for Humanity. You'll be helping someone who has no one else to help them.

As a victim of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, we still need all the help we can get in Louisiana and Mississippi, Alabama and even parts of eastern Texas. So please help any way you can! If you want to volunteer like so many of people have, please do so!
Thank you and Have a nice day

Julie, I don't know if you've already looked into the area you'd like to help in, but if you haven't, I'd highly advise St. Bernard Parish (e.g. Chalmette, Arabi, Violet). I spent my Spring Break, a week in May, and most of the summer in St. Bernard Parish rebuilding, and while I have seen much of the New Orleans area that was affected by the hurricane, it is very much St. Bernard Parish and parts of Orleans Parish (mostly New Orleans East and the 9th Ward) that need the most help. It's really great that you want to volunteer!

Hi guys! I'm really glad to see that this cause is functioning properly. I would, however, like to begin the donations if anyone would be so kind to donate the first amount, I would be happy to either match or double it. The south needs all the help it can get folks!
