About
Building meaningful relationships with educational communities in Western Kenya and Tanzania through initiatives and activities which promote dignity, opportunity, and self-sustainability.
During the fall of 2005, William & Joanne Cala traveled to Kenya. After life-changing encounters with orphaned children, they created a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization called Joining Hearts and Hands, Ltd. The primary goal of this organization is to support educational, health and economic needs of African orphans and their communities by building schools, providing health clinics, sponsoring sustainable development initiatives and building cultural bridges between Kenya and the United States. Since 2005 Joining Hearts and Hands has built more than 30 classrooms in Western Kenya and northeastern Tanzania. In 2011 Joining Hearts and Hands is sponsoring 114 high school students with 4 year scholarships. JH&H has started 5 micro-businesses and is providing water through wells and water collection.
Thanks to all of our financial supporters for helping us grow and continue to provide for the educational and life needs of African children.
