Creating awareness, prevention, and funding opportunities for the medical care of our dogs!

Virginia German Shepherd Rescue (VGSR) is passionate about and committed to giving all of our fosters a second chance at a new life, including those who have been neglected and that come to us in very poor health. VGSR is committed to raising awareness about the importance of basic medical care and regular checkups for all pets. Help us to raise funds for the care of our medically and physically neglected fosters -- many of whom rely on your generous support for a new beginning as they wait for their "forever homes."

Meet Sidney and Sheena, two fosters who were each on death's door when they came to VGSR. These two dogs are the inspiration for our fund. Today, Sidney asks, on behalf of her less fortunate friend, Sheena, that you join our Cause and donate today!

Sidney's Story:

Sidney was rescued by VGSR on February 26, 2010. She weighed just 46 pounds, had no discernible blood pressure, and was estimated to be just four hours from death when she arrived at the hospital. Once with her foster family, she continued to have many medical issues and was barely able to walk or lift her head. After a few weeks, proper diagnoses, and a great deal of care from her foster family, Sidney’s situation has slowly improved, but uncertainty about her future continues. You can help save Sidney and others like her!

Sheena's Story:

Four-year old VGSR foster Sheena died March 6, 2010 after a lifetime of neglect finally took its toll. She came to VGSR in early February weak, emaciated, and with serious stomach problems that left her unable to absorb nutrients or gain weight. These all contributed to her untimely death, as her 33 pound frame was unable to handle the surgery needed after her intestines suddenly became twisted and she went into shock. In the end, neglect toward Sheena 's medical care and well-being are what took Sheena 's life, love, and companionship from this world.

JOIN OUR CAUSE AND DONATE TODAY SO THAT OTHER DOGS LIKE SIDNEY AND SHEENA CAN HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
