Human trafficking is the second-largest organized crime in the world. It is a crime that is growing exponentially around the world and in our country. Human trafficking is a 9 to 27 billion dollar industry.It's an epidemic, and it is growing in the United States. To the suburbs, to the big cities, it's everywhere. What is ironic is that 25 percent of all child sex tourists around the world are U.S. citizens.
70% of human trafficking victims ARE sex trafficking victims. 9,000 women and children were kidnapped last year in China. Approximately, 60,000 people are brought to America by these 'pimps' annually.
There are promises of marriage, employment, education and financial gain. Anything and everything is done to entice victims into trafficking networks. Through false hope, threats and violence, they control every aspect of their freedom.
Children, everyday are getting tricked into coming to America thinking that they will live the American dream. This dream, of course, turns into a nightmare. Children as young as four are available at brothels but kept hidden by their pimps in an attempt to avoid police raids. Girls get raped, beaten, and killed. It's a dark world. They can't escape. They can't even call the police because the threats are real.
