United States Fund for UNICEF Petition
308,670 signatures
9.2 million children under age five die every year—more than 25,000 a day; more than a thousand an hour; more than 17 per minute. They die from causes we know how to prevent and treat—pneumonia, diarrhea, and malnutrition are the biggest killers of kids. We believe that number should be zero.
From the work of UNICEF and others, we know that we can save the lives of children and mothers in even the poorest countries. We know that we can’t save child lives by just treating one or two diseases. We need to make sure that families have access to a package of basic, cheap, cost-effective health and nutrition services to ensure a healthy start to life.
Americans strongly believe in the importance of saving children and mothers. We need our Government to reflect that belief. We want the next President of the United States to launch a Presidential Initiative to Accelerate Child Survival. This Presidential Initiative would scale up the high-impact interventions that we know save child lives in even the poorest communities. With leadership from the United States Government, UNICEF calculates an additional three million children’s lives can be saved by 2012.
We won't "get to zero" if we continue business as usual. We need to step things up. And we need President Obama to take the lead!

I read this ...
Sexually abused children are often driven to despair because they don’t know who to tell. Even when they summon the courage to speak, they are scared no one will believe them. We have to listen to these children, take their concerns seriously and give them the protection and support they need.
how can another human hurt a child its sick they should let these criminals be locked in a room with parents who care 4 their offspring.its just disgusting it sickens me readin or seeing articles about these horrible people and the crimes they commit they should pay 4 dearly a life 4 a life,,,you cannot put a priceon a life..and these do gooders that try 2 help these horrible beasts should be given the same treatment as the monsters themselves...
Greetings! Causes call for the compassion of others who are able to direct their attention for nurture and support. Call upon those hearts of many who envision the potential aptitude of a significant message. Care enough to examine the need and to relinquish the irony of faults, failures, or faltering feats to gain prosperity. Embolden those participants who sacrifice for the amelioration of conditions and opportunities. God bless! For encouragement 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, join me on Facebook or learn more at http://www.kingdavis.com

What would you do in a situation like this: my daughter, who just turned 15 yesterday, was not allowed to use the restroom by her teacher even though she indicated she really had to go, the teacher allowed another student to go but not my daughter, and was still denied even though she asked politely 3 times. She walked out of the classroom to go because she would not humiliate herself by having an accident in school. I support her 110%! Just 2 short months ago she had to go to the local Children's Hospital ER with blood in her urine due to a serious infection. She was not drinking enough for fear of having to go and not being able to because of situations like this. Parents so many times are the focus of abuse, but to me what this teacher was also abusive because it was my daughter's birthday yesterday, and she couldn't even enjoy her birthday dinner because she was in pain ever since she went to the BR in school that day from holding it so long. I've emailed the teacher and guidance counselor, plus my daughter is speaking with the vice principal, but even my daughter's pediatrician wouldn't write a note stating to let her go (because she would have to be checked out first, then given a note IF it was necessary, even though it was acknowledged holding it can CAUSE such serious infections and she had to be on an extended course of antibiotics to cure it) I have decided to switch Drs but also will stand up for my child with or without their help because nobody else pays for her suffering except me monetarily and her physically and emotionally. If I did that to her in any way as a parent, I would be in jail, so why should teachers be allowed to behave this way? I must add my daughter is ranked 24th out of 288 kids in her 9th grade class with a 3.1 GPA even with all she has been through. She didn't deserve being denied the RIGHT (not privilege) to go to the bathroom.

There's much similarity between this cause and my ministry but can't say much bcos of d fiduciary relationship/trust dt exists btw my clients and I.In d course or my findings,i got to know dt at least two of every six girls i met have been abused in one way or d other and with violence or threats which makes it impossible 4 them to talk about it to anyone.so they either become dangerously wild or always curled up in their shells;either way they're suffering and need help.To identify them isn't easy cos i need to quietly watch out for certain traits, listen more and win their trust before d therepy can begin.same goes with d guys, they're timid and not communicating.these people have no stable life nd re often confused, devastated nd vunerable;they need help so pls find a need nd meet it wherever u re and show love to all.God bless
