On Monday (11/28/11), Israel's legislative body, the Knesset, formally banned cat declawing throughout the entire nation. There was no opposition to the proposed ban. Declawing a cat for non-medical reasons is now punishable by up to 1 year in jail or a fine up to 75,000 shekels.
