300,000 Reasons

The 300,000 Reasons campaign has been launched to draw attention to the plight of 300,000 Sri Lankan Tamil citizens – men, women and children who are being forcibly held in their own country in military run camps for no reason other than their ethnicity.
It is time for all of us to take a stand. We request the Australian Government take up this matter with the Government of Sri Lanka and the international community as a matter of urgency.

1. There are 300,000 Tamil citizens being held against their will and in contravention of their basic human rights in Sri Lanka, a Commonwealth country

2. To put this in an Australian context, we are talking about detaining the entire population of the Australian Capital Territory for over five months

3. - The conditions in the camps are extremely dangerous. Aid and media organisations have grossly restricted access.
