My daughter was born with right hemiparesis diagnosised at 6 months old. Doctors and therapists said she would probably never crawl, let alone ride a bike or swim. Hearbreaking for me to hear, but I never gave up on her and most importantly, she never gave up on herself. Ten years later, with the right doctors, therapists and constant therapies, she not only was able to crawl, and ride a bike (w/ no training wheels) but she stands tall and proud today of who she is and what she is capable of doing. We are so proud! She has miracuously found the "strength" that she was not born with in self-determination, persistence and love.
I thought I'd give a few props to UCP. Growing up, I benefited greatly from their clinics and their financial help in providing the goods and services to monitor and improve my progress growing up. I know I should have wore those hard plastic shoe inserts more than I did. Apparently, it is important to have arches in feet. However, it was just so difficult to wear those things and play basketball without blistering up my feet. Anyway, it is a worthy cause.
I know times are difficult but they are even more difficult for individuals with disabilities. I hope that we can raise enough money to support these wonderful individuals in need.
"I have showed you all things, how that so laboring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Please join us for the United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Florida's first Pet Shoot on December 12 in Daytona Beach!
I am also seeking contributions for silent auction taking place during this event. The event is the first collaboration of two fantastic charitable organizations: UCP and the ARNI Foundation (a pet rescue, no-kill shelter).
Elements of the event are intended to offer a unique, no-pressure, and highly enjoyable opportunity to enjoy raffles, a silent auction, and even have fine portraits taken of their pets (Santa optional) while getting their immunizations updated at an extremely low cost ($8 per shot).
We plan to offer high quality and really fun items for the auction: oceanfront hotel stays, event tickets, local fine chocolates, etc.
Does your company’s marketing department (or do you) have any promotional giveaways that we could provide to participants, or - even better - something really neat that could be included in the silent auction? I'd sure appreciate any advice and/or contributions you folks are willing to provide; this is the first time I've done this sort of thing, and I want to make sure it's successful - GIVE BIG OR GO HOME! Thanks much! Pamela Taylor
