$50 = A whole school year cost for one student in rural China

Overseas China Education Foundation (OCEF), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping disadvantaged children in rural China to realize their dreams of completing their education and improving the education conditions of the schools in these areas.

In the hinterland of China, millions of children still live in poverty and struggle for a chance to receive basic education. While you may take education for granted, these children have to pursue it with the utmost perseverance. In many areas, they have to hike miles in the mountains everyday to attend school. Young children sometimes take classes standing because there are not enough chairs around. To save on school supplies, the students often use sticks as pencils to write on the ground to practice writing and arithmetic...

For these children, a little help can go a long way. Since inception in 1992, OCEF, one of the leading grassroots organizations to support the education of disadvantaged children in China, has sponsored more than 26,000 Grade 1-9 students and over 2,000 high school students who may have otherwise dropped out of school to continue their education. And your care and generosity are crucial to the continuing support for these children and will help them not only to obtain the basic reading and writing skills, but to pursue even higher education. With your help, these disadvantaged children will have a much better chance to lift themselves out of poverty, and go on to pursue their dreams.

While $50 can cover the yearly tuition and fees for one student, any amount of your donation will help! OCEF appreciates every penny of your donation and any kind of support from you, because we believe that together we can make dreams come true, one child at a time.
