Youth Need Jobs! - Rally & Press Conference - NY City Hall - 8/19 at 11 a.m.

Join the FUREEous Youth at the New York City Hall Steps on Thursday, August 19th at 11 a.m. to demand economic justice for youth in New York City.

Since 2009, the unemployment rate for youth continued to rise resulting in more youth entering the military, taking jobs for less pay or giving up searching for employment altogether.

At this writing, The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 37% of youth are either unemployed or not seeking jobs, the highest since 1971. Many of the cuts to youth services… Read More

FAMILIES UNITED FOR RACIAL AND ECONOMIC EQUALITY, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

Based in Brooklyn, FUREE is a membership organization that is organizing to build power so that low-income families can change policy in order to win permanent exits from poverty. FUREE has a base of several hundred families, almost all of whom are headed by low-income women of color. FUREE is led by its members, who are the real experts on the policies that affect low-income families.
