Dear blueEnergy Friends,
As we move into the holiday season and ponder the many things for which we are thankful, we wanted to take the time to share with you a real and direct way in which you can help improve the lives of some of the poorest and most isolated people in the Western hemisphere. While we often take for granted access to basic services like energy and water, there are still billions of people worldwide that lack access to these vital services.
We’d like to share with you the story of Carla and how access to energy has improved her life and the lives of her community members. Carla is the nurse in Monkey Point, a poor, isolated community of about 300 people on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. Monkey Point has no roads, no phone reception, no financial services and until recently, no electricity. In 2010 Carla was devastated when a young girl was brought to her with a snake bite that she could not treat because she could not store anti-venom. The family could not afford the boat ride to Bluefields and the girl died three days later.
Carla’s dream was realized this year when blueEnergy electrified her clinic - bringing light and enabling a life-saving nebulizer to treat asthma and a vaccine freezer. After the installation Carla remarked, “Now I will never have to hear such a tragic story of a life cut short for want of a simple treatment”. Carla is a pillar of her community and serves over 500 people from Monkey Point and the surrounding area.
It is because of stories like Carla’s that blueEnergy remains committed to providing basic services like energy to some of the hardest to serve regions in the Western Hemisphere.
We ask for your support to help us help many more Carla’s. Would you please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to help us connect people to life saving services? Every amount counts as our network of support grows and we find strength in numbers.
Thank you for your support and consideration during this time of thanks and celebration. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Warmest Wishes,
