CBCN PROGRAMS

Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) fulfills its mission to link, educate, support and advocate for Canadians affected by breast cancer by offering a slate of programs and services, in both official languages, to benefit people with the disease as well as those from the breast cancer care community who care for them.

Toll-free breast cancer information line - one of the first services CBCN offered on opening its national office in 1997 was the 1-800 breast cancer national info line. It remains a popular way to find information about the breast cancer care community across the country (1-800-685-8820).

Educational Workshops - knowledge strengthens the ability of breast cancer groups to offer quality programs and services and enables individuals to make informed choices about their health. In recent years, CBCN has offered these popular workshops online and by teleconference and has increased its reach to include people outside urban centres. Watch the CBCN news page and the newsletters for notices of upcoming workshops.

Clearinghouse Website - provides user-friendly information about breast cancer, research trends and news, discussion groups, workshop transcripts and links to resources and support groups across the country. The site receives an average of 1.5 million hits per month, 26,000 distinct visitors per month with an average visit of 26 minutes per visit. The site is maintained and updated regularly.

Publications and special reports - circulated nation-wide to an audience of about 4,000 individuals and groups, CBCN's two newsletters, Network News and Outreach, and special reports bring to the national community timely articles and emerging issues, notices of workshops and campaigns, and, of course, the wisdom and experience of women living with breast cancer. To receive any or all of these publications complete the form, Subscribe to CBCN, and be sure to let us know if you would like any back issues sent to you.

Advocacy campaigns - our campaigns raise awareness of breast cancer issues among the broader breast cancer, cancer and health communities and give a national voice to people touched by the disease on issues of public policy. Get involved in a campaign (or two!) such as CBCN's Adopt-an-MP and/or the Financial Cost of Having Breast Cancer and watch the CBCN news page for notices of future campaigns.
