Racism Hurts Everyone!
The Stand Against Racism is a movement of the YWCA. Our goal is to unite groups and individuals that share in our vision of a society free of racism and discrimination. Together, we want to raise awareness that racism still exists and that it cannot be ignored or tolerated.
The Stand Against Racism is an annual event that takes place the last Friday of each year.
We invite your group (any group of any size can participate) to become a Participating Site of the Stand Against Racism by hosting a local "Stand."
A Participating Site could be a business, non profit or civic organization, school, hospital, unit of goverment, church or temple or other house of worship.

Started by the YWCA Trenton and the YWCA Princeton, in New Jersey, they are now joined by over 80 additional YWCA Associations throughout the country.
1. Racism and discrimination hurt everyone. Racism has had a profound effect on children and adults, our communities and our institutions.
2. Racism & the legacy of discrimination continue to affect our lives: in our everyday interactions at work, school, or in our neighborhood.
3. No one is born a racist. Our views and beliefs develop as we grow up.
4. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable.
5. Our methodology is to bring people together to take a bold stand against racism. Please join our cause and invite others. Our strength is in numbers!
