Updated: The cause has reached 500 members.
My husband and I are new to the community. He is a sculptor, and we have done a couple of gigs as a singer/songwriter couple. My best skills, however, lie in the area of events planning and execution. Can somebody please let me know how we can become a contributing part of the effort to save the Firefly? We are JAZZ LOVERS and great workers for events, etc. Please contact me! Isabel Francis - 3035 Charing Cross, A2, 48108
If I understand the article correctly, a debt of $120K to the MiDeptTreas was financed in '04 with a monthly pmt of $2K. Do we know the rate or the remaining principal? It would be easier to recruit if we knew what our goal was!

About donations -- here's my understanding from the AnnArbor.com article: any money collected via individual donations is going into a trust. If nothing can be worked out with the state, the money will be returned. The info about the trust is in the main article at AnnArbor.com.
I just set this up to create community awareness and keep everyone updated about the situation and to disseminate information about the upcoming benefits.
There's no way for you to directly donate through Facebook -- please see the article at
http://www.annarbor.com/news/fundrais...
and call University Bank to find out how you can donate. (I'm not sure if it will be possible to do that via telephone and credit card or not.)
TO THE MUSICIANS IN THE COMMUNITY: please consider joining one of the benefits being planned, or consider starting one of your own...we have seen so many good venues for live music in Southeast Michigan go down -- let's not lose another one!
