I had served in The Marines and I am GAY for 4 years. I was better at fighting then some of my fellow Straight Marines. These asses have no idea what can of worms they are about to open!
No one, especially the government and the military, has the right to impose any bias against one segment of our society over another. To quote the Declaration of Independence:" ... all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
There's no mention of "Except for gay people" because this great country is built on equality- and that goes for every person of non-traditional sexuality. Lt.Choi deserves our support in his cause to save his job. Doubly so as an Iraq veteran.Don't ask, Don't tell is a travesty and dishonors those gay and lesbian military members who have put their lives in harm's way to protect all of our rights under the Declaration of Independence.
I know many people are phobic about individuals that are not 'so called straight'. Put away your fear and be loving as God asks us all to be.

I am so proud of Lt. Choi and all those sticking up for themselves in the military and on the civilian streets! It is unfortunate that the GLBT community and their straight supporters have to actually *fight* for non-discrimination, but I can look back with confidence and tell my son that it was worth every moment for those I care about!

I grew up in a military / aerospace family and chose to be out and gay when I was young, work in the arts, instead of following my interests in joining the Navy and living a hypocritical life that other friends have had to do to serve. It's time to take on the mongers of hypocrisy like John McCain -- for all of Obama's missteps in office, we're still better off that he won the election, rather than "The Maverick."
