Grant application -- ELCA World Hunger Education/Advocacy -- Due 2/21/11

A message from the Associate Director of the ELCA World Hunger Program...

We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2011 ELCA World Hunger Education and Advocacy grant cycle. All grant application forms must be completed and e-mailed with the organization budget, project budget (if applicable) and letter of support to HungerGrants@elca.org by 5:00 p.m. (CST) on Monday, February 21.

You will find the Grant Information Sheet at http://www.elca.org/Our-Faith-In-Action/Responding-to-the-World/ELCA-World-Hunger/Resources/Grants.aspx which describes the grant criteria and submission details. Below are a few items that I would like to draw your attention to:

1) ELECTRONIC APPROVAL:
The last page of the application form includes an electronic approval that replaces a handwritten signature. The "I agree" box MUST be checked and your name MUST be typed in the box for the grant application to be considered.

2) LETTER OF SUPPORT:
It is very important that the author of your organizations Letter of Support answer fully the questions on page 4 of the attached Grant Information Sheet. You will need to share this information with the author. Incomplete letters will not be accepted and may not allow your application to be considered.

3) FIRM DEADLINE:
As you may be aware, the ELCA churchwide organization and ELCA World Hunger have experienced significant staff reductions and due to this reduced staff capacity we are no longer able to offer courtesy follow-up with organizations that miss grant deadlines as we have in the past. All grant applications, budgets and letters of support are due by 5:00 p.m. (CST) on Monday, February 21.

VERY IMPORTANT!
The application is an Adobe PDF file and requires Adobe Reader to view and complete it. Adobe Reader software can be downloaded for free at http://www.elca.org/Who-We-Are/Our-Three-Expressions/Churchwide-Organization/Information-Technology/Software.aspx Please make sure you have downloaded the most recent version of Adobe Reader for your application form to work properly.
