About

To return to West Africa, to love God and to love people through the medium of nursing.

It has been eight years since I left the continent of Africa. Serving and living in Mali, West Africa for two years has by far been the highlight of my life. Since I have been back, I have often wondered why the opportunity has not come to pass for me to return. But today, I gladly announce that the opportunity has presented itself, and I will be returning to Guinea, West Africa as a nurse/missionary in November 2009. This will a be a permanent/long-term move to Africa.

I cannot put into words how long I have waited to return and how much it has meant to me. I asked myself many times “Why am I here, when my heart is there in Africa?” Over the last eight years there have been many lessons learned and many valleys as well. I received my second degree in nursing which will enable me to carry a very useful tool back to Africa to serve the people there. I also was able to take care of my mother and be there next to her when she lost her battle to cancer in August of 2008. I know God has reasons for my delayed return, and I believe that the last eight years was a time of preparation and closure for me. Now, this season has come to an end, and a new season is beginning.

I will be working through an organization called Pioneers. They appointed me the first week of June to return to Guinea, West Africa to work among the Fulbe people. I will be relying on donations and sponsors for my salary and work there, and ask that each of you pray for God to provide. I am writing to you today to invite you to join in and partner with me. Here are a few ways you can participate:

1. Pray: You can send me your email and mailing address, so that I can send you updates on the work that is going on. You can send me this email via facebook or to cluke@hushmail.com

2. Go: There will be future opportunities to join me in the work in Guinea. If you have ever wanted to travel on a short-term assignment, please let me know so that I can keep you updated on future events.

3. Give: Donations are the sole support for me to remain on the field and continue working. I have to raise $10,000 as a one time fee to cover transportation, housing setup, plane tickets, as well as other supplies necessary to live in the bush of Africa. I also will need monthly pledges totaling $2000 each month to remain on the field. All donations are tax deductible. I know this seems like a lot, but I know with God all things are possible. If you feel led to give, read the instructions below:

a. Click the link below to make a donation online. Electronic Transfer Funding is also available upon request. PLEASE TYPE “CHUCK LUKE” in the Missionary Name field and "110328" in the Account field.
