PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the fur trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs.
PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and direct action.

I have been a supporter of PETA for a long time, and I am most certaintly against the horrific tradition of seal clubbing. I am however a very proud canadian and a proud vancouverite, and although I get your message, I am a little offended by the use of the olympic logo as an association of a barbaric practice. We do not condone the seal hunt, and I think its unfair to group the olympics, and the city of vancouver with something that takes place in the north, and majority of people here are against.....its our federal government's mistakes, their support of this heinous act....not ours, please consider this in the future, instead of using the seal hunt (a real disgrace) as another excuse to hate the olympics
