Marijuana Policy Project Foundation

Your donation goes to support the core mission of:
Marijuana Policy Project Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

MPP pursues its work along two parallel tracks ? making marijuana medically available to patients in need (known as "legalizing medical marijuana"), and taxing and regulating marijuana for general adult use (known as "marijuana regulation"). Specifically, MPP pursues the following mission (strategies) to achieve its vision:

1. Increase public support for marijuana regulation.
2. Identify and activate supporters of medical marijuana and marijuana regulation.
3. Change state laws to legalize medical marijuana and/or regulate marijuana.
4. Increase the credibility of marijuana policy reform on Capitol Hill.

Do you know that 25% of our population is in jail for minor possesion, our country houses more pot smokers that any counrty in the world. I ask why that is? Because it keeps the corruption in business, would cut into the Alcohol industies and tobacco. Put people out of work in the emergancy room, abuse councilling, domestice violance programs, police, to many to name, because poeple would cut back on drinking, which cause more crime, more violence, DWI's , and all the bullsh*t that alcohol creates. STOP THE MADNESS now and get involved... VOTE for your Rights because the next law they inforce my be YOU in jail.

Hey Dylan I noticed no one has replied to your post yet. Oh right, you can't reply to posts in here. You have over 33k people on here, but where is the official MPP community? I know you guys must run a pretty busy project in that Washington office. If I was there with you I would be handing you a project right now then we would be writing down all of our objectives for the day. I'd really like to see what the MPP office is like. I'd like to see the official mpp office video.

What about for someone who already has been legal in California, Oregon and then later moved to New York.. should that person be living in fear ? after all the patient was legal until moving to NY. There should be some sort of exception for those currently accepted for medical cannabis nationwide protection .. in short end marijuana prohibition please.. at least don't attack the ones already been legal in the past and doctors who are willing to support. it's 2010 the future is here and alternative view on basic commodities which we use in stocks today. Wall street would agree with me. Hemp cultivation is a high profit gain compared to the current prohibition.

Is there a location where you can find out governers and senators positions on marijuana decriminalization? I'm looking for the positions on the candidates for governor in Connecticut in particular, but if this information is all in one place it would be helpful.

I have a neck injury that i got on the job, in Texas. I had to move to Cali to find a real medicine for my pain. I had to leave everything behind just because it is illegal in my home state.

I have insomnia. Sometimes I go three days without sleeping. I have been prescribed pharmaceuticals, tried sleeping pills, and natural legal methods like valerian root. The synthetics leave me awake and loopy or knock me out only to cause my heart to beat so hard and fast that it wakes me up with chest pains moments later. The natural methods just made me groggy yet they yielded no sleep.

When I was as senior in high school, I started smoking marijuana. I slept great every night for a long time.

Eight years later, Marijuana still knocks me out but I wake up after the high wears off. My body has even adapted to this. I know a solution for my sleeping disorder can be found with Marijuana research. It's only a matter of time.

I was diagnosed in California with chronic anxiety and had bad pains from my accident... I hated using pain pills, they burn and cloud your brains and kill your desires for life, so again I went back and asked for another type of medication and on the third time they prescribed me medical marijuana, that's funny I used to judge pot heads for ever touching weed... How ironic and trick life is, I started using this plant and it was the greatest thing for me so far... I moved to Texas and this place is terrible plagued by ignorant rednecks politicians like I was. I got arrested here in Texas even though a doctor gave me the consent to use this plant as medicine now I have court date for trying to help myself...

I have a long list of medical problems the least of which include scoliosis, I would just like to say that keeping one from relief of constant pain is inhumane!

Drug dealers support anti-drug legislation. There are good reasons for it…
They do it through anonymous donations and possibly “dummy corporations.” Major drug dealers have a vested interest in keeping drugs like marijuana illegal. If they ever became legal then their profit margins would go down considerably; they would have to sell wholesale, advertise, and there would be more competition. If say, marijuana; became legal the public would benefit because they would tax it and support necessary programs that are currently being cut. People could more easily make clothes and products from hemp which is much more durable than cotton and the plant uses less land for bigger crops. Further, there would be less crime. Less cost to the public; no jail time for possession means less people in jail which translates to fewer housed in jail and less cost from the criminal justice system. Of course there would have to be an age restriction on it. However, people would have to be accountable; if they don’t want their family members to use it they would have to teach them. (We couldn’t have that!) PS. It’s less dangerous than alcohol and that’s legal.

I agree with Matt Burns. I am from North Carolina and the only way we are going to get this bill passed is if we are vocal about it!! Please contact your NC officials and tell them you will NOT vote for them unless they are in agreement with HB 1380 and HB 1383!!!

It's just crazy for this country to NOT be using this natural resource! Too many uses for it to mention here, but, adults should be able to choose to use it or not to use it, without being penalized for such use, as long as they don't break the law by using it, I don't see a problem. It's a shameful waste, prohibition of marijuana does not belong in The LAND OF THE FREE!

There is no logical reason to prohibition. It didn't work for alcohol, and its actually dangerous. marijuana is virtually harmless. How long will this cycle of ignorance last?
