MaltaRugby has no stadium, no pitches of its own
Do you know that the Malta Rugby Football Union pays big money for our National Team to represent Malta in Malta?? Malta has been trying to obtain land on which to build a rugby stadium for years. Both political parties have been promising it for decades. It is now a do or die situation as with the growth of our sport, we need to build facilities on which our teams can train and play. A stadium would be a big initial cost, but would eventually generate enough revenue to keep the sport growing... please help by forwarding this awareness campaign to your list of friends... every person in the cause makes a difference, let's let the political leaders know that they should no longer brush us aside. Please note that this is not an attack on any particular political party, promises have come from both and they have been coming for a long time...also, this is not an attack on Hibs stadium management, we just think it's time we have our own. We are aware that the Parliamentary Secretariat for Youth and Sport is actively searching for localities to be used by the Malta Rugby Football Union, and for this we thank them, particularly in the realisation that this is by no means an easy task. The purpose of this cause is therefore not to throw any bad light on anybody in particular, but it is simply a plea, to remind authorities of our desperate need for more facilities, and for this, we thank you for joining, thus increasing the volume of our voice!
1. Rugby in Malta is amongst the most successful sports on the island, yet it lacks the sufficient facilities required for it to maintain its growth.
2. The Malta Rugby Football Union pays to play internationals in MALTA, due to having to rent stadiums from other sports organisations!
3. In Marsa, we have 1 changing room, on a first come first serve basis! The other team must change outside and shower at home!
4. With our own stadium, we could generate profits to maintain facilities as required for the growth and safety of rugby.
5. KMS helps by granting pitch no3 at Marsa for our local games, unfortunately, we now need more pitches for local games as well as a national stadium.
