Every day, Snow City Arts teaches hospitalized children the art of creative writing, music, painting, photography, and filmmaking. Young patients can take part in art workshops seven days a week as they cultivate their skills.
Why do we exist? Each year, in Illinois, 103,000 hospitalized children regularly miss school because of their need for treatment.
1. Doctors find the illness. We find the artist. We bridge the gap for children who don't have access to educational programs because of illness.
2. Children learn to write poems, painting techniques, how to play the guitar, or even create a short film–and turn a time to heal into a time to learn.
3. We help children boost their confidence, stimulate their mind, and teach them that they are contributing members to the community's cultural dialogue.
