1. YR ensures that NYC youth affected by the criminal justice system are given every opportunity to reclaim lives of dignity and self-fulfillment.

2. Over 14,000 youth aged 16-24 were convicted of misdemeanors last year; in New York, misdemeanor convictions are never sealed.

3. An arrest can often lead housing, education, and employment problems; all YR clients have a single lawyer who can advocate in all these areas.

4. New York is 1 of only 2 states where 16-year-olds are automatically tried in the adult criminal court system.
