Help Enable Graduating Fine Arts High School Students Pursue Higher Education
Susan and I created the Larry Mitchelson Fine Arts Award two years ago. Our Dad, Larry Mitchelson, taught elementary art in the Fulton Consolidated School District for 34 years. Affectionately known as “Mr. Mitch”, he earned the respect of his students and the Fulton community as a teacher and artist. To honor his commitment to our youth, Susan and I wanted to commemorate Dad’s retirement by helping aspiring artists pursue their dreams. The annual award is presented to a graduating Fulton High School student that plans on pursuing higher education in the arts. Applicants must complete advanced high school credits in art courses and submit a portfolio to a selection committee.
