We got a chance to meet the four candidates for the School of the Arts Dean's position this week. All four seemed very committed to the Center for the Arts. I think whoever is hired will see this building as the next logical step in the evolution of the arts at UVU.
It looks like a beautiful new building idea for the school ( : my first college had a beautiful fine arts building and i LOVED performing in it; so i hope we get enough funding to build it. Our school NEEDS a fine arts building ( :
I think our last count on majors for the School of the Arts was around 1200.
Wow! Is that the newest picture of the proposed Fine Arts Building?! It's beautiful!
I also took a survey a few weeks ago that suggested we may be getting a new multi-level parking facility . . . . Though that really has nothing to do with the Fine Arts Building.
Tanika,
The project on the sixth floor is a new Black box Theater. Although it will be nice for the theater department, it doesn't help them in the long run. Nor does it help the over all School. You will never see a Choir, Band, or Orchestra concert there. Dance will never perform there and there will never be an art there. It doesn't improve the practice room situation. We only have four for the entire music dept. Make sure you know what is being built on campus. The fine arts building will be much bigger and is going to be across from the new library. If it doesn't get bumped for a new business building, football field.
Really? IF so, that' would be awesome. But the last plans I saw for the building, they were planning on putting it in the far corner of the parking lot on 1600 S, kind of by the soccer fields there. Of course, that was a while ago...
Pretty sure a fine arts building is already under construction, guys. The theatre department is highly aware of it, seeing as how there's a huge construction site connected to the 6th floor of the GT building...
First post!!! Maybe you could try getting a car engine to rev at a specific note? Think of the possibilities it opens up....
I hope it includes a beautiful gallery which students my exhibit their BFA shows.
