I'm all about kids--working with non-profit "Bridges to Understanding" which teaches digital storytelling in Seattle public schools.
I choose to buy local products and support local businesses here in Olympia. I think we should all work to support our neighbors and "brag" about the wonderful products and services available in our local areas.
I am active around my business keeping the neighborhood clean. All it takes is a couple of hours a week picking up trash. It is amazing what a difference it makes. I have particpated in Sunday Sweep as well.
I volunteer teaching children basic origami--the perfect (non-electronic) eye-hand coordination activity! I am a volunteer cook at a conference center in McKenna, WA. ( http://www.brightoncreek.org/ ) Wonder if that city was named for our Attorney General?
Today I'm helping to launch an online Key Club through Olympia Kiwanis. Kids that go to school on the internet are interested in helping and choosing their one thing too!
I'm signing up to be a host for Olympia's tent city, Camp Quixote. Tiime blocs are three hours. I've helped host overflow shelters at Westminster Pres, but haven't gotten involved in Camp Quixote yet. I'm told it's life-changing for the volunteers.
I want to become more pro-active in my community. I love helping people and would love for my kids to have an opportunity to do the same in the near future.
