Fit to Fight Ovarian Cancer was initiated by one woman who lost two young friends to ovarian cancer, a disease that is not widely discussed. As a personal trainer, she believes that fitness is a great way to empower women, and help them become more in-tune with their bodies. Our goal is to fund a public service awareness campaign to educate women in the tri-state area about the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and to donate funds to local research, support, and awareness organizations. Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecological cancer because it goes undetected - women don't know enough to catch it early. Fit to Fight Ovarian Cancer can save lives.
In 2010 this event will continue on July 18th! For all you non-swimmers, we have added a Duathlon and a 5K! check out the website for more details!!
