Jobs with Justice Education Fund
$550 raised from 3 causes

Donations go to:

Jobs with Justice Education Fund (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit)

JwJ''s core belief is that in order to be successful, workers'' rights struggles have to be part of a larger campaign for economic and social justice. To that end, JwJ has created a network of local coalitions that work together on workplace and community social and economic justice campaigns.

Nearly 100,000 people have signed the JwJ pledge to be there at least five times a year for someone else?s struggle as well as their own. The JwJ network currently consists of 47 local coalitions and organizing committees across the country. JwJ distinguishes itself from other broad-based coalitions by focusing on long-term, multi-issue coalition building. Our coalition model allows us to root our work in issues that are fundamentally important to workers, while creating intersections of allies across the broader social and economic justice movements.

I am a RETIREE of GM, Represented by IUE-CWA, not the UAW. Everyone knows the UAW made a deal pre bankruptcy to secure the pensions and health care of their retirees. The IUE-CWA was not as fortunate. The bankruptcy judge has allowed GM to align the IUE-CWA retirees with the OLD GM...and we are about to lose our health care. Many of us, myself included, are far too young to get Medicare, and have pre-existing conditions that will preclude us from purchasing health care on our own, even if we could afford it. I am 60 years old, and spent 30 years in the GM plant. After I retired I went to work as a Labor Organizer for many years, but had to quit for health reasons. My heart is in the labor movement...and I am feeling the INJUSTICE in this bankruptcy. If you feel the same as I do, my self and my fellow union brothers and sisters would appreciate your help in getting the word out. We are writing emails and phoning the White House...this is NOT the CHANGE we voted for. Please help us!
In Solidarity,
Marylou Dever
The White House has been deluged by calls and have apparently put the number used in the IUE-CWA GM retiree ads directly into voice mail ... voice mail which is now full. So try 202-456-1414 or 202-456-1111.
