For more than 40 years, the Guttmacher Institute has advanced sexual and reproductive health in the United States and worldwide through an interrelated program of social science research, policy analysis and public education. Our mission is to generate new ideas, encourage enlightened public debate, promote sound policies and programs, and, ultimately, inform individual decision making.
The Institute works domestically and internationally, conducting research and policy analysis on the full range of sexual and reproductive health issues, including relationships and sexual behavior, unintended pregnancy and abortion, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and sexual and reproductive health services and financing. Our work is broadly disseminated in varying formats, including research reports, policy briefs and fact sheets. Guttmacher also publishes two peer-reviewed research journals, as well as a highly regarded policy journal. The Institute’s Web site, www.guttmacher.org, is an important source for sexual and reproductive health information and ideas.
