About Support the Houston Dog Park Association

Houston Dog Parks are public parks designated and built specifically for your dog to socialize and exercise safely and off-leash. Houston and surrounding areas now boast over 25 fenced, off-leash dog parks with a variety of amenities including swimming ponds, agility equipment, shaded seating and walking trails. Amenities vary by park.

No entrance fees or membership fees are required to use these parks, they are open for public use just like any other Houston Public Park, but here, your dog is allowed to run and play off of his leash!

HDPA is an educational organization as well as an advocate for dog parks. The HDPA web site is a resource that HDPA maintains to inform the public of all dog park locations, dog related events and dog park news, as well park rules and etiquette, so everyone enjoys their dog park experience.

The Houston Dog Park Association is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization begun in 1998 with the purpose of establishing a network of dog parks in Houston and the surrounding communities. To that end, HDPA has worked to raise public awareness of the benefits and appropriate use of dog parks and has assisted Harris County and the City of Houston in the development of the area’s first official dog parks. While it has no jurisdiction over the dog parks, HDPA has been instrumental in helping Houston become a nationally recognized dog-friendly city.

Now that Houstonians have embraced the concept of dog parks and those dog parks have been recognized as the best dog parks in the country (with more to come), HDPA continues to serve as an adviser to area dog park groups as they plan and open their own neighborhood parks.

Through your donations, the HDPA is able to continue our educational, advisory, and support efforts at local dog-related events and on our web site. While your financial contribution is important to us, your volunteer efforts as “a working member” are invaluable. Join us and help your dog have the time of its life.
