WOMEN FOR AFGHAN WOMEN INC

Your donation goes to support the core mission of:
WOMEN FOR AFGHAN WOMEN INC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

WAW is a grassroots civil society organization, with offices in several cities in Afghanistan, as well as Queens, NY, dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and girls, particularly their rights to develop their individual potential, to self-determination, and to be represented in all areas of life: political, social, cultural and economic. We advocate for women’s rights and challenge the norms that underpin gender-based violence wherever opportunities arise to influence attitudes and bring about change.

WAW is committed to the leadership and agency of Afghan women, both in Afghanistan and in the United States, in the struggle for their human rights. WAW's work takes place within the religious and cultural context of the women of Afghanistan. Our work is strengthened by our commitment to diversity. Our board and staff team includes men and women, and a diverse representation of age, religion, ethnicity and sexual orientation. WAW is a resolute advocate for Afghan women’s human rights.

We have thousands of men and women in our armed services now in Afghanistan, helping the people of afghanistan finally free themselves so they might govern their country for their own good. I can't go to Afghanistan but there is a small thing I can do and that is promote the welfare of the women! These days donations that go to huge charities - who knows if they help the people they are sent to help - at least with small grassroots charities, we can see our contributions make a real difference.

It is so fortunate that Bibi survived, and found protection an help. I can't wait to see her new face after surgery. Thank you WAW to help all these women getting out of hell. I wish you can save many more.

I have been a very lucky woman and I got the opportunity to study, to work and to lead a very comfortable life. It is so unjust and cruel that the world doesn't allow every woman to do the same. I will do my best for Afghan women and women in any other part of the world who are subject to such torture.

It is only by the grace of God that I was born and live in a society that I am allowed to choose what I do, where I go, who I am with, what I learn, etc. I could have been born somewhere else and not have had the choices I have now. I feel obliged as a woman who has free will to support those women whom do not.
