The Alliance for Climate Protection Petition

Tell the US EPA you support strong fuel efficiency standards

2,627 signatures

About this Petition:

For the past 20 years, the fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks sold in the U.S. have barely changed.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new standards that will improve the gas mileage of new cars and light trucks. These standards will:

* Reduce our oil consumption by 1.8 billion barrels of oil;
* Save Americans $190 billion on fuel costs -- $3,000 per vehicle purchased under the new standard;
* Cut carbon dioxide emissions by 950 million metric tons.

This historic step will finally move us toward energy independence and loosen Big Oil's grip on the American economy. But the special interests are going to do everything they can to block these critical reforms, so we need to let our leaders know that we support these efforts.

Sign the petition and we'll deliver it to the EPA before the public comments period ends.

SO, THEN YOU SHOULDN'T LEAVE FOR ANOTHER YEAR WHAT YOU CAN DO IN DECEMBER AT THE COP15 UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE COPENHAGEN 2009: TAKE ACTION TO COMMIT THE WORLD IN REDUCING GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS THAT ARE SO HARMFUL FOR THE PLANET AND ITS INHABITANTS!!
Obama admin touts health benefits of GHG curbs (11/20/2009)
Bravender, E&E reporter
The Obama administration trotted out its top environmental and health officials today to tout the public health benefits of slashing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing the nation's reliance on fossil fuels.

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told stakeholders at a White House forum that strong federal efforts to curb global warming and achieve energy independence will drastically reduce asthma attacks, heart attacks and other public health problems.

"Energy reform and environmental protection can be an ounce of prevention that makes a huge difference in our public health future," Jackson said.

EPA has already embarked on a host of new climate policies that will improve public health across the country, Jackson said, including its proposed finding that greenhouse gases endanger human health and welfare. That proposal -- which is being reviewed by the White House -- would set the stage for a host of other agency rules aimed at regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

Those policies, along with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and pending energy and climate legislation, "are win-win changes for our health and our environment," Jackson said.

With increasing evidence about the connection between greenhouse gases and public health, Sebelius said her department was increasing its efforts to coordinate environmental and health policies.

"It's becoming clearer and clearer that the consequences of carbon filling the sky go well beyond harm for our planet," Sebelius said.

Stone age did not end because we ran out of stones. It ended because we invented bronze
The oil age will not end because we run out of oil. It will end when we invent productive renewable energy alternatives.

AWW, AN ACT OF GRACE... THEY SHOULD ALSO BE UP FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL NOBEL PRIZE:O)
Engineers Without Borders at UW-Madison wins United Nations award
This volatility left a sinking feeling in the student members of the UW-Madison chapter of Engineers Without Borders when they realized the extent of the flooding during their trip to Haiti in June to begin building a hydroelectric power generator. The site for the generator was in one of the areas most affected by flooding.

Its really a good move from the ppl associated with this cause and i being a environmental friendly person..love to be part this cause and campaign. The more we do for our mother earth is always less, i do my part when ever i get the opportunity and urge other also to do so. But i still feel that there are ppl who are aware of the dire consequences if now they dnt starting putting efforts..everything will fall like a pck of cards...
I very try my very best to support this cause as well as inform others as much as possible

The Only way to stop Global Warming is to give a solution to factories smoke coming out of the top of the factory.Another way is drive only for work and back.Another way is use is to use Electricity when you have too.Fuel emmissions are a big part of Global Warming but not warming it is smoke coming out of cars and factories So,then we might say Global smoke,lol just Kidding.Anything that gives out emissions or smoke but I don't know how that would be Global Warming?If the term "Global Warming is used in its own words it might Global Smoke but if given definition to the Global Warming it would be that the world is warm,but weather changes things on earth regenerate,renew,a constant change is natural for ice,fire,water these
properties can be used for our benifit,and coal use wisely,The weatherman says but can't control weather.This is a good cause but lets not get carried away and turn Global Warming into Global Regeneration,renew resources by using them again and recycle things like even gas can be recycled if you think about it we use gas but where does the unused Coal,Gas, go it has no use but it does have a need to recycle if not used we can recycle cans,jars,boxes why not recycle Coal,gas,and other properties we can do this then the Landfill might be less and less therefore not giving way to smells,breathing in these chemicals can be dangerous.I am not saying lets give up and close the cause Global Warming but let us use resources,recycle,renew,regenerate, reuse and change the way factories and smoke stacks work by getting rid of smoke stacks and get rid of machines that require daily use,but instead rebuild factories to look like a different workplace and no intense smoke going into our air.Pollution might be another example of Global Warming Pollution in many ways can cause sickness and even death for if we really cared and did something about everything Global Warming causes then we could still have Global Warming but its use in the term might be Global Warming the earth getting warm in all places and states,countries the earth is warm only warmth but we still have to keep the cause and its like a continued job never getting fired never laying off people.People are valuable resources because people can go,do,build every person has different jobs and this way people work,and by doing actions such as rebuild,renew,regenerate,recycle,pe ople can do these things and more.people are valuable let us start to finally work on things that cause the air to become polluted.that is all I have to say!
